Kentucky Health Cooperative

Health Insurance Marketplace

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) provides for the establishment of state health insurance exchanges – basically, “one-stop shopping” sites for choosing a health plan.  Designed to make consumer comparison of health plans simpler, Kentucky’s exchange is called "kynect". It operates two health marketplaces:

  • An Individual Marketplace, where individuals and families may purchase health plans and determine eligibility for premium assistance, and;
  • A small group marketplace called the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP), where employers with fewer than 25 full-time-equivalent employees may be eligible for up to 50% of expenses incurred for their contribution to health plans.

kynectors (pronounced "connectors") will be a link to assistance. kynect support is available by phone, online, or in person. Visit kynect.ky.gov or call 1-855-459-6328.
